Leadership-helping with the open night and going to te hapua-excellence post #5

Yesterday Ashley, Daniel J, Husain and I went to the hall kitchen at lunchtime to help make a dip for the open night we made beetroot and chickpea dip, it was fun.

Also last friday Mr ladbrooks class went to Te Hapua Library to do some coding and robotics. I did coding and we had to use this website called Scratch to command our sprite what to do I found it really fun.

I showed active thinking by actively thinking my way out of the pit when I was coding and I showed contributing by volunteering to contribute to the open night.

Home learning challenge excellence post #3

Design your own challenge: Poem about my council trip.

They walked out of school,
in the direction of the pool,
And waited there for the bus.
When it finally came,
they hopped on to claim
their  comfortable seats.

They set off on their expedition,
and gained permission,
to enter the Christchurch City Council.
When they stride inside,
they try to abide,
and enjoy their time with the guide.

After a slideshow,
they got to know,
some professionals that work there.
Each group learn't something new,
and conversed as they chew,
their morning tea.

After that they do some activities,
in some cases involving festivities,
they share back to the group.
Then they go to the chamber,
now here's a disclaimer,
It was as fun as can be!

Then not too later,
they met a nice waiter,
in a place called Hachi Hachi.
They ate their food,
all in a good mood,
then they go down to the town square.

After a bit of walking,
and a little talking,
they arrived at their destination,
with the great temptation,
to have fun!

Swing ball, golf, instruments and more,
it was totally great for sure!
Now they see the remains,
of Christchurchs terrains,
of which used to be a beautiful cathedral.

After that event,
the rest of the time we spent,
was going back to school,
this trip was way cool!

Leadership-helping out around the school and takeing part in dancing-excellence post #4

1/6/17
On Monday I helped out with peer mediation because someone way away to do there job there was two problems to sort out. The first one was a kid who was sad because his friend wont let him play I solved the problem by asking the friend if they could agree on a game and they did. The second problem was a kid who fell over and to solve the problem I took him to a teacher to give him a sick bay form.

The last two weeks the whole school did dance as our school production and I think I did really well and on last Friday night we preformed it was great fun and everyone put in a great effort.

I showed Active Thinking by thinking my way out of the problem as peer mediator and by having an open mind when learning dance.

I can make links across texts by recognising connectives or adverbial clauses

I can make links across texts by recognising connectives or adverbial clauses

In this unit learnt about connectives and how the contribute to a sentince and I learnt about what an adverbial clause it and how to put them into a sentice.

A connective is a joing word that can be used in the middle of two sentices to join them or at the start of the two sentence but put a commer where they should go a few exaples of a connective are: Because, after, meanwhile, and, As soon as.

An adverbial clause is The bit of informatin before a commor (but not on lists) an exaple is: After herold ate dinner, he went to bed.

Here is a link to a compare and contrast map of an adverbial clause and a connective

Key leadership visiting the council excellence post #5

30/5/17
Yesterday all of the student leaders went on a great trip to the Christchurch City Council. First we walked down to catch the bus and bused all the way into town. When we got there a nice girl called Celia introduced herself to us and told us all about the builds and the the Whenua (totem pole) that was outside. Then we all went inside to this presentation room where Celia guided us through this cool presentation about what the CCC does for the community. Not to soon after we all broke into different groups and went with an expert from a different department of the CCC. Alex, Tracy and I went with this nice lady named Kelly she worked in park recreation and sports oragnising her job was to organise all the different sports team/tournaments with a park to play in. Once we had finished that we went back to the presentation room to have some food to eat. After we ate Celia gave us this supper fun activity about budgeting. After that we went up to the chamber it was so much fun.

I showed the Community care value by representing Oaklands in the community.

Today at lunch one of the peer mediators came up to me and asked me to do a duty with her I said yes because I had nothing else to do we walked around for a bit then someone came up to us and asked if we could help him find someone to play with we said yes and we asked some near by people if he could join in jump rope with them

Throughout this week we have been doing a dance program this program is super fun and we have a great teacher called Dean we are learning Hip Hop and Jive and I have been trying my hardest.

Overall I think I have shown the care value community by contributing to the community of Oaklands school.
